Have you heard of the new movie directed by Adam McKay? They’re filming in New York right now. The cast includes Will Ferrel, Michael Keaton, The Rock, Samuel L. Jackson, the CFO from The Office, Eva Mendes, Anne Heche, Steve Coogan, Paris Hilton, Rob Riggle, Craig Robinson, and more! Keanu Reeves is even rumored to be involved.
Is it a comedy? An action movie? Whatever the answer, they’ve been filming outside our office! Check out this video I made of some shots I got with my handy Flip camera. More photos after the jump…
Rub-a-dub-dub, wait this ain’t no bathtub! This is Inner Tube Water Polo Sundays at the Chinatown YMCA, hosted by yours truly, the NYC Social Sports Club.
There are some dogs that don’t like to get wet, but The Mad Dog Mob-Stars certainly had no problem jumping into to pool to play a little Water Polo. They matched up with Looney Tubes, but unfortunately Bugs and Daffy couldn’t make it to the game. Read more »
I have to admit, I’m not exactly what you’d call a football fanatic. I’m not one of those people who goes to football on Sunday the way some people go to church. I know people who do that, and they would tell me I’m not a fan. But really I am. I can watch and appreciate games at all levels of play, from college to professional to NYC Social Sports Club Sunday Flag Football. (I listed these in order of excitement, of course!) Here is what I love about football — anything can happen. One or two great plays can get a team back into the game, or even make them a winner. Never was this truer than in the three games I saw on Sunday at Lions Gate Field. Read more »
During a close game at last Thursday’s Dodgeball games, Superman flew in to make an astounding catch. Of course, non-league players cannot affect game -play, and the renown superhero was dutifully led out of the gym.
But Action Weekly photographer was there to capture it all! Click on for more stunning pictures of heroic deeds. Read more »
Taking pictures at Thursday Kickball is always a challenge for one reason — it’s played in two locations, and there’s only one of me. While it makes me feel good to know that I’m probably getting more exercise in than most of the people actually playing the sport, it’s a little hard to follow what’s going on at the field where I am not.
Unfortunately, I can’t include clairvoyance as one of my talents. I have a whole system set up to try and maximize my coverage for three games at a time, which I won’t bore you with, but it involves me walking between fields midway through the game. This Thursday, as I was doing my bounce from Attorney St. to Suffolk St., I noticed a very peculiar sight on Court D — Mimes on the field. Huh? Read more »
The Chinatown YMCA was thoroughly swept Tuesday after two action packed NYC Social Sports Club Broomball matches. It was a death-match to see who would wipe the floor with whom, skid marks on the gym floor and all.
The first round saw Sunny Side Up (Red) pitted against The Tribe (Irish) in full-steam game not unlike the Superbowl, except for the lack of television coverage (we’re working on that). Read more »
Picture-drunk Aaron decided to get beer-drunk too! The other week he stayed late after the games and stole souls with his magic picture box at Aces & Eights.
I expect these photos to be on Facebook profiles without haste! Enjoy!
Sometimes Action Weekly photographers get shots of strange, ephemeral happenings at our leagues. Recently, Majesticles turned in this image, perhaps the best known picture of the infamous Werebroomball Player.
The creature, a goalie, stalks our indoor players at the Chinatown Y, looking for human flesh. If you are ever faced with it, it has a Punch-Out-like weakness: When its eyes glow red, give it a swift uppercut. Surefire KO.
